Your data, explained plainly.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address, account identifier, and sign-in information needed to provide your account.
• Cellar and app content: bottles, quantities, purchase details, notes, rankings, watchlists, preferences, feedback, sightings, store scores, comments, and submissions you choose to create.
• Photos and camera data: photos you choose to capture or select for bottle identification, submissions, or your profile. We use them only for the feature you initiate.
• Location: precise location only when you allow it for nearby store discovery and location-based alerts. When you opt in to location-based alerts, Stave may store your most recent app-provided location and timestamp to deliver that feature.
• Notifications: a device notification token, device/app information needed to deliver alerts, and your alert preferences when you enable notifications.
• Optional purchase details: purchase price and related collection information that you enter.
• Technical and diagnostic information: app version, feature events, and error or performance information used to operate, secure, and improve Stave. We do not collect payment-card or bank-account information.

How we use information

We use information to operate Stave: provide your account, sync your cellar across your devices, identify bottles, show store and release features, deliver reminders and alerts you choose, review community submissions, respond to support requests, and protect the app from misuse.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for cross-app or cross-site advertising tracking.

When information is shared

We use service providers that help us run account delivery, storage, notifications, location search, and user-requested bottle-photo analysis. When you choose enhanced photo analysis in the app, the label photos you selected and the bottle text or barcode you provided are sent to Google’s Gemini service to extract bottle details. The app asks for your permission immediately before that happens. Do not include people, faces, account information, or other personal information in those photos.

We also use mapping and place-search providers to return stores and route information you request. Providers process information only as needed to provide their services. We may disclose information when required to comply with law, protect users, or enforce our rights.

Community content

Store scores, store comments, bottle sightings, lottery suggestions, and other community submissions are reviewed before they are published to other Stave users. Bottle sightings require a supporting photo; if approved, that photo is displayed with the sighting. Do not include people, faces, account information, or personal, sensitive, unlawful, threatening, or infringing content. You can report public content and hide another contributor’s content from your account. We use your account identifier to operate and protect these features, but Stave does not display your email address with public community content.

Your choices and controls

You can control camera, photo-library, location, calendar, and notification access in your device settings. You can update much of your account content in the app. To delete your account, use the Delete Account action in the app’s account area. Deletion permanently removes your account and associated personal data, except limited information we must retain for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or dispute resolution.

Data security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect the information we handle. No system is completely secure, so please keep your sign-in credentials private. We retain account and feature data while your account is active, then delete or de-identify it through our account-deletion process unless limited retention is necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or dispute resolution.

Children

Stave is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
